**Daniel and I wanted to inform you of a new construction project that has freshly started on the lot adjacent to our home. The construction will be active Monday-Friday and possibly on Saturday's. The starting time during the week is possibly as early as 7:00am. This is a two year project.

During the different stages of construction, you may or may not be able to hear noise from inside the home. We want to be very transparent with our guests.

We have been successfully hosting guests during the time of construction, but if you feel this will be an issue for your group then please do not book with us at this time.
Daniel and I will continue to go above and beyond to make your vacation an fun experience.

Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Charleston:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Historic St. Philip House - One Block Off King Street has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
