Booking the best Charleston area rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book a perfectrental:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. St. Michael's Place Retreat has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
