How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Charleston. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Slip into Folly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
