Charleston area vacation rental tips:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Perfectly located, 7 miles from Downtown Charleston or Folly Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area beach you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
