How to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Modern Condo in the heart of DT on East Bay St Prime Location has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
