Tips and Tricks to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. The Madison- Historic Charleston Single House with Double Porches & Roof Deck has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
