How to find the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Charleston area rental home:
- First, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Bright and Spacious Downtown Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
