Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Historic, newly renovated, 1 block off upper King St, Morris B has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
