Rental property booking tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in Charleston:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Historic Charleston Charm has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
