Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Full Renovation of 1811 historical home. Completed Dec of 2024! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
