Tips to get the best Charleston area rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in Charleston. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking yourrental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Elegant and Chic Condo in Downtown Historic Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
