Booking the best Charleston rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental in Charleston:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Dream Weaver (Suite B) by StayDuvet! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
