Our top Charleston area rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Comfy & Cozy Right Downtown Charleston OP2019-00450 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
