How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Coastal retreat short ride to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
