Our top Rental home booking tips:

Find your best deal:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Historic B&B has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
