Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the best value:

  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming Condo - 1 Block to King! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
