Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Casa Vieja-B: Sunny and Sleek 1BR has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
