- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
