Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Charleston. Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the best Charleston area rental:

  • First, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
  • In the Heart of King Street! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
