Our top Rental property booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 1 BR 1BA In-Law Suite Near Folly Beach and Downtown Charleston has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
