Our top Charleston area vacation rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. King 583 - Charleston - 2 Bedroom Standard has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
