Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. THE INNS Charming 5BR\/3BA Heart of Downtown! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
