Charleston vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. THE INNS - Amazing 3BR\/3BA Suite Downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
