Charleston area rental home tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Poolside Paradise Getaway
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
