Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and picking your Charleston area vacation home:

  • Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. THE INNS - 10 BR Downtown Home - Amazing Location! has 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
