Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best rental in Charleston:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. THE INNS TWO Charleston Homes 10BR \/6BA Downtown! has 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
