Booking the best Charleston vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To get the best rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a max budget.
- Multi-Unit Rental has 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Charleston area beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
