Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
