Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Renovated Home, Quiet Porch, Parking has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
