Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- To start, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Steps away from Historic King has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
