Tips to get the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Steps away from Historic King has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
