Strategies to get the best Charleston area rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • To get the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Selecting and booking the best Charleston area rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Sweetgrass (Suite B) by StayDuvet! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
