Charleston rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Book your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the bestrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Stylish Bohemian Downtown Charm has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
