Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, shift your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Large Home Right by the Beach! Private Pool & Elevator! Fun Backyard w\/ Swingset has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
