How to find the best Isle of Palms rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean Views, Screened-In Porch, Steps Away From Beach And Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
