Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Marina View, Pool, Porch has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
