Getting the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Charleston area rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Condo in WILD DUNES! Fully Renovated with Rooftop Balcony! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
