How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Explore Historic Charleston All Around You! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
