Booking the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your Charleston area rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- First, have your family decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
