How to book the best Charleston vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Experience Folly Life & Water Views\nQuiet, Clean, Beach & Downtown Charleston. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If not, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
