Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- Summer is high season in Charleston. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown 195 East Bay Street: Heart of Downtown Free Garage Parking... has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
