How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Charleston area rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Corp Apartment with private parking space has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
