Tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To book the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautifully furnished Charming single South of Broad. Ideal Location w\/ parking has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
