Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
  • King in Five (B) has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
