How to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Beautiful Home w/ Deck, Walk to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
