Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Vacation Villa (ADA) 'The Mediterranean Palm’ has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
