Vacation rental home tips:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Corner Lot, Porch has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
