Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. The Iris- 3rdF-1Bed,1Bath Sleeps 4- Parking Carousel- 10min drive to Rainbow Row has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
