Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Large Condo! Prime Location, Community Pool & Elevator! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
