Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - 1 Bedroom Plus has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
