Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in Isle of Palms. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the perfect Charleston area rental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. AMAZING Ocean Front View! 2BR Summerhouse Villa in Wild Dunes! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
